Since walking in the door at Abraxas it’s been just like the old days, which was a real surprise since I didn’t expect to know anyone. But longtime manager Krista spotted me on the first day, and that was my introduction to baristas Mimi and Sara, and they’ve treated me so nicely since then. Mimi (Moroccan parents, born & raised in Italy) bought my first tea yesterday and today, Sara (Genoa native) made me a fresh O.J. while she was doing some for staff this morning … Mimi found me a place at the bar Friday late afternoon when it was JAMMED in there, too.
First all-Italian crew I can ever remember at Abraxas, their third barista was Italian too … nonstop chatter when they’re near each other, but they were having a great time and were a great crew, which was also just like old times.
It has been kind of amazing the first couple days, every old place I used to frequent that I visited, somebody knew me, and I expected it to be NOBODY by now.
Satellite Sports I didn’t recognize anybody at lunch, but the bartender Krista said she thought she recognized me, maybe she was a bartender right before I left, but she was hilarious. She was quizzing staff (and me) on whether they would be a Disney character or any other cartoon character, and which one.
