New Wheels II

Got the VW for road trips, but for just getting around town a bike should be enough. Two years on a bike in Amsterdam taught me one thing though, my knees no longer appreciate being pushed hard on a bike. So I went high tech with an electric bike from Northwest Electric Vehicles in Ballard. 500 watt motor gives it plenty of power on hills (tested that with a ride uptown to Aldrich’s this evening), and you can ride either as pure electric with a twist throttle on the right handlebar, or pedal-assisted with 3 levels of assist.

So I’m not getting a motorcycle for my midlife vehicle … but something more practical and greener! Also picked up a nice Thule 2-bike rack that attaches to the trailer hitch of the VW and has separate cable locks built into each bike mount to somebody doesn’t run off with the bike!
