Fun With the Phone Company

Ahhh, some things never change … like the absolute incompetence and criminality of The Phone Company.

Moving back to Port Townsend, one of the infrastructure things I needed to change at the condo was upgrading the 1.5 meg DSL line to something faster, around 5 megs. So last Friday I called up CenturyLink (aka “Clink”) and tried to put in an order for this.

That was my first mistake. I should have gone through my local ISP, Olympus.Net. Because it took 40 minutes on the phone with Clink with 3 different people to put in this most basic of orders, and of course they screwed it up.

Today was the day my speed was supposed to increase. So as I was making coffee I noticed that the internet connection state of my laptop was ‘no Internet available’ and the little status light on my firewall was blinking, meaning it hadn’t authenticated to the ISP network properly.

Reboot devices. Nope. Reboot again. Nope. Okay … phone call to Olympus.Net.
Why use Tadalista? Tadalista is a clinically proven generic medicine for sample viagra prescription all the effects and side effects of the medicine are like the similar. Now my rep there knew what the hell she was doing, and right away said “Yep, Clink turned off your connection with us and moved you to them as the ISP.”

Despite my specifically telling them every step of the way not to do that.. My Olympus rep had them cancel the order for today and put in a new order for me. I still don’t have DSL. I might not have it for a couple days now as Clink attempts to introduce their left hand to their right hand (I just hope they can avoid introducing themselves to their butt again) and get one of the most basic things they do to actually work.

What was Lily Tomlin’s classic line as the rude operator on Saturday Night Live …. “The Phone Company … we don’t care. We don’t have to.”

As true now as ever!
