Distance Ride

Since buying my E3 Metro electric bike, I’ve put a lot of miles on it, but only for around-town rides to friends’ houses and shopping. And in the fantastic August and September we’ve enjoyed, that is the ONLY vehicle I’ve been using for those purposes. It has been a great, great buy.

But today, it was time to get outside the city limits and see just how far the bike could go on the highway. So for this afternoon’s trip out to Hadlock to walk Ralph and Lucy and perform my other dogsitting duties, instead of hopping in the VW I made sure the Metro was 100% charged and hit the road.

I took the ‘scenic’ back roads on the trip out, and discovered that with the extra hills on that ride, I used over 80% of the charge to get out to Hadlock. I also did several long full-speed sprints on electric only, which generally does chew battery the fastest.

I recharged the bike from 3:15 to 6:00, which got me back to full charge while I was feeding the dogs and hanging out to give them some social time. They mournfully look for Dave & Jeanette every time I arrive … I am a popular wielder of the Mighty Can Opener, but I am not one of their pack leaders.

The damaged blood canadian viagra vessels hamper blood circulation. On the return trip I took the most direct route along the highway. I pedaled with mid-level electric assist on any hill, and cruised at mid-level electric only on level ground. The only significant hill was the long climb past the airport. Going this way, the SpeedView GPS app on my phone tells me the trip was 10.89 miles, took me 45 minutes, and I averaged 14 mph for the trip. I used about 60% of the charge riding this way.

My legs are definitely feeling a ride that long, but because of the electric assist my knees and ankles do not protest. And the Metro’s saddle was very comfortable for the extended ride, which I have to count as a major success. Not quite as beautiful as the ride home from North Beach under a spectacular sky full of stars on Wednesday, but still a warm September day is hard to beat.
