Typhoon Haiyan is only the latest reminder of what we all should have known already (from Fukushima and Katrina, at the very least) — when a natural catastrophe is large enough, when you survive you are on your own. No matter how well organized a government is, when the catastrophe is massive, a lot of people will have to wait for help because of the difficulties just GETTING to you.
Two weeks of drinkable water and food. If you don’t have that in your house, you’re not prepared.
